Arch Contemporary Ballet‘s Summer Program offers an unparalleled experience in contemporary ballet rooted with the philosophy of Artistic Director, Sheena Annalise. Students are guided through a new way of thinking about ballet, music, and body movement.
The curriculum values artistic risk-taking and tenacious work ethic. Emphasis is placed on cultivating the dancers ability to realize their full potential, express their individuality through bold new movement, and discovering their limitless boundaries through dance and music.
Our aim is to supply a solid technical underpinning for contemporary works based in classical training, and to provide an environment for the unfolding of the students own learning process.
Designed for aspiring artists ages 16-34, this intensive program supports the growth of the contemporary ballet dancer. Students study at New York City Center Studios located in the heart of New York City at 130 West 56th Street. They have a unique opportunity to study with founding Artistic Director Sheena Annalise, learn Arch Contemporary Ballet repertoire from current Company members, and train/mentor with a diverse roster of ACB soloists.
Side by side with The Composers Intensive, dancers will be involved in the creation of a world premiere piece by Sheena Annalise and will perform it at the conclusion of their intensive in Arch Contemporary Ballet’s spring season performances. Students of the music intensive will be composing to our summer intensive students using the cross collaboration process that Arch Contemporary Ballet has created.
